Protecting water quality, in Pine River Watershed, along Lake Huron's southeast shoreline

Windbreaks help to protect soil from erosion, reduce wind damage, and create healthier growing conditions for crops and wildlife

These are some of the benefits of planting seedlings and improving forest cover:

  • Reduce soil erosion, improve water quality, and stabilize streambanks.
  • Create habitat for birds and wildlife and increase biodiversity.
  • Help to reduce the amount of water that is lost to runoff.
  • Enhance landowners' properties with a wind shelter from wind and snow.
  • Help to filter air and soil and offer aesthetic and recreational benefits.

Thanks to all the landowners and volunteers planting trees.
